By postponing the strikes, SGS is taking responsibility in the ongoing dispute and is giving The Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) opportunity to make some serious proposals before strikes will paralyze the Icelandic labour market.
Postponing of strikes is the contribution of SGS to sensible solution of the dispute. It is quite clear that it is necessary to resolve the dispute and negotiate, whether it will be done with the strike power with unpredictable consequences or in a sensible way. It‘s responsibility of The Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) to approach sensible and responsible demands of SGS.
SGS‘ negotiation committee has decided following:
Strikes that were to be implemented on 19 and 20 May are postponed to 28 and 29 May.
Unlimited strike action which was to be implemented on May 26 is postponed to June 6.
